Visit Murchison Falls National Park for game drives, boat cruises on River Nile to the bottom of the falls and hike to top of the Murchison Falls.
Day 1: Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park
Collect your car rental in Kampala. To help you navigate your journey to Murchison Falls National park, the car comes with GPS.
Murchison falls National Park is situated in western Uganda about 305 km (4-5 hour drive) from Kampala city. On the way you will stop in Masindi town and refuel your car. Then proceed to Nakasongora where you can opt for a stop at Ziwa rhino sanctuary for guided rhino trekking on foot with armed ranger. The rhino fund Uganda project has helped to bring back rhinos whose population was poached to extinction in the 1980’s. Since its inception in 2005, with 6 rhinos, the population has ever since increased to 26 rhinos.
After rhino trekking, proceed via the forest in the south of the park to the top of the falls and enjoy spectacular scenery of the world’s strongest waterfall.
You may cross stay in the south or if time allows cross the Nile by ferry to the north of the park. Dinner and overnight stay at lodge of choice; pakuba safari lodge/ paara safari lodge/ kabalega wilderness lodge
Day 2: game drive and boat cruise on the Nile
Early morning game drive begins as early as 06:30 a.m. after breakfast.The burigi and victoria game tracks give you great opportunities to spot animals such as lions, leopards, Rothschild’s giraffe, buffalo, hartebeest, oribi, African elephants, waterbucks, bushbucks, and hippos at the hippo pool.
By noon you will have packed or hot lunch and take a boat cruise along the Nile to the bottom of the falls. You may see hippos, Nile crocodiles, water birds, mammals which come for a drink such as elephants and buffaloes. You will get off the boat and hike to the top of the falls.
Day 3: Return back to Kampala
Afterbreakfast, depart back to Kampalaand make your way to where you will return the car in time for your onward flight.
